NASA news conference: “Discovery beyond our solar system”

by | Feb 22, 2017

There is a great expectation for the press conference scheduled by the NASA for today (Wednesday, Feb. 22nd ). A special event to “to present new findings on planets that orbit stars other than our sun, known as exoplanets”, as is reported on the agency’s website.

NASA will hold the news conference at 1 p.m. EST (7 pm Italy Time) and will air live on NASA Television and on the official website.  An event not to be missed that will be attended by astronomers and scientists from around the world.

This “major announcement” raises hopes that NASA could reveal news about exoplanets capable of holding life. This kind of planets, in fact, are also the hope for discovering life beyond the Earth, in particular those with a similar distance from their star as Earth is from the sun.

The most relevant question about this kind of studies and researches is whether or not the new planets include liquid water, the principal ingredient for life.

While all the world is waiting with bated breath, we remind you that the media and the public also may ask questions during the briefing on Twitter using the hashtag #askNASA.
